My orthodontist suggested to extract 1st premolars for braces. I assume that one premolars allow space upto 6mm then 12mm for both premolars. I have normal overjet I am scared that after closing space will my teeth go back by 12mm.If Yes that will be too much for normal overjet. please help me with my Query

The gum line of some of my teeth is becoming black and it seems like a cavity. I have been brushing my teeth twice a day since forever so not sure why it happened. Are there any reasons for cavity other than dental hygiene?
