Why my post prandial spike up, low hba1c
Hey everyone,
I’ve been living with type 2 diabetes for the last 3 years and I’m honestly confused and a bit frustrated. My HbA1c is always below 6.8, which seems okay… but my post-prandial sugars are consistently high, usually above 230 mg/dL.
My fasting sugar averages around 140 mg/dL, and despite trying multiple medications over the years, the pattern hasn’t really changed.Right now I’m on:Vildagliptin 50 mg in the morning only.
I live in a South Indian household, so my diet is still very carb-heavy—rice, idli, dosa, etc. I do try to include protein, but in a combined family setup it's really hard to change the everyday meal pattern.
My parents eat the same carb-heavy meals, but their post-prandial sugars stay under 180 mg/dL, which is considered normal. Meanwhile, mine shoots up even with smaller portions.
I’m trying to understand:Why does this happen even though my HbA1c seems controlled?
Do I need Homa. IR Test and change medication?

Change in Insulin injection
I take 20 units of Human MIXTARD 30/70 insulin in the morning and 20 units in the evening. HM 30/70 is not available in medical stores and a Medical Doctor mentioned that the company is stopping production altogether.
My query is :
Can I take Huminsulin 30/70 instead of HM 30/70?
Will the dosage remain remain the same?
Thank you.

Post-Miscarriage Diabetes Follow-Up
I am 37 years old. I had an IVF pregnancy. In June, my last HbA1c was 6.7. After that, I stopped taking metformin and continued checking my diabetes regularly. Even without the medication, my fasting sugar stayed around 101, and my post-meal readings were between 130/122/145.
Today, my HbA1c report came back as 6.1, with a fasting sugar of 77 and a post-meal reading of 107.
So does this mean that the diabetes I was experiencing after my miscarriage—which wasn’t returning to normal—has now become normal? Even though the HbA1c is still a bit high?
