Could be due to accumulation of  fluids caused due to stasis. Continue icing. Avoid sitting with legs hanging down continuously for long time. Get Haemoglobin,  urine microscopic, serum proteins,  x ray chest done and share results..

Put leg on chair or stole,  at night put three pillows  under  foot for six seven days. It's DEPENDENT EDEMA.

Swelling that worsens with long standing, sitting or travel and improves with cooling or rest can commonly be related to circulation or venous issues 👍 Since this has been recurring for years along with redness, proper evaluation is important to identify the exact cause and prevent progression. Please consult once so the swelling pattern, circulation and associated causes can be assessed properly.

Your symptoms sound more like venous insufficiency/venous pooling, where swelling increases after long sitting, standing or travel and improves with elevation/icing. Recurrent ankle-foot swelling for years can happen due to poor venous circulation, obesity, varicose veins or prolonged standing habits. The reddish patch may be due to local inflammation or venous congestion, but if there is significant pain, warmth, fever, one-sided swelling or sudden worsening, you should get examined to rule out clot/infection. Try leg elevation, walking breaks during travel, reducing salt intake and using compression stockings if suitable. A venous Doppler ultrasound may be needed if symptoms keep recurring.
