Persistent tiredness and daytime drowsiness despite adequate night sleep can be caused by several conditions including iron deficiency anemia, thyroid imbalance, low vitamin B12 or D3, or even an underlying sleep disorder. These causes need to be identified through basic blood tests before any treatment â please do not take medicines on your own as the wrong medicine will not help and may mask the actual problem. A simple blood panel can usually point to the cause.
Next Steps
Get basic blood tests done including CBC, thyroid function (TSH), Vitamin B12, and Vitamin D3. Please consult me directly on Practo for a detailed evaluation.
Persistent tiredness, excessive daytime sleepiness, and lack of energy despite adequate night sleep can occur due to several reasons such as anemia, vitamin B12 or vitamin D deficiency, thyroid disorders, stress, depression, poor sleep quality (including sleep apnea), inadequate physical activity, or other medical conditions.
I would advise getting the following investigations done:
• Complete Blood Count (CBC)
• Thyroid Profile (TSH)
• Vitamin B12 level
• Vitamin D level
• Fasting Blood Sugar
Until then, maintain a regular sleep schedule, stay well hydrated, eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly, and avoid excessive screen time.
Next Steps
Consult a physician for clinical evaluation and review of the above reports. Treatment depends on the underlying cause, so medication should not be started without proper assessment.
Health Tips
Seek medical attention promptly if you have significant weight loss, fever, breathlessness, snoring with daytime sleepiness, or worsening fatigue.
