My vitamin levels were 9.5 ng/ml on 2024
My vitamin levels were 9.5 ng/ml on June 2024. I took one 60,000 oral vit d dose yesterday and plan to take again for next 7 weeks , one per week I haven't tested my vitamin D this year, however considering the 9.5 ng value last year . I just wanted to confirm that I am not in any danger of vitamin D toxicity, it seems unlikely as it was so low last year. I had taken 40000 D rise capsules 8 weeks treatment , but after that I didn't follow maintenance dose, except for 2 additional months

Hello, I am Dr. Romain Rajan, General Physician. I understand your concern — you are worried about vitamin D toxicity while undergoing high-dose supplementation, given your very low levels last year ✅ Advices • It is generally safe to correct severe vitamin D deficiency with weekly high-dose oral vitamin D under supervision, especially when levels were extremely low like 9.5 ng/ml • Avoid additional supplements beyond the prescribed weekly dose until a follow-up test is done • Include dietary sources of vitamin D and safe sunlight exposure to support long-term levels What to Monitor • Watch for symptoms of vitamin D toxicity such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, excessive thirst, frequent urination, or muscle weakness • Mild warning signs include constipation, mild fatigue, or headaches Managment Given your prior deficiency, a weekly 60,000 IU oral dose for 7 weeks is a standard regimen to correct levels. Risk of toxicity is very low at this stage, but it is important to recheck serum vitamin D, calcium, and kidney function after completing therapy When to Consult a Doctor Immediately • Severe nausea, vomiting, confusion, or persistent weakness • Excessive thirst or frequent urination • Any signs of high calcium such as irregular heartbeat or bone pain Every patient’s situation is unique. For accurate guidance and safe correction of vitamin D deficiency, it’s important to monitor your lab values regularly You can reach out to me directly for this case, and also connect with me in future for any medical consultation I am available on Practo or on WhatsApp at 85271646 seven seven for a one-on-one consultation, where you’ll receive A personalized treatment plan Safe medicine adjustments if required Quick follow-ups to track your recovery Take care, wishing you good health Best regards Dr. Romain Rajan General Physician

Your previous vitamin D level was quite low, so weekly 60,000 IU for 6–8 weeks is safe. Toxicity is very unlikely at that dose, but it’s best to recheck levels after 2 months to decide on maintenance. Please consult me online to review your old and new reports and guide you on the correct long-term plan.

Your previous level of 9.5 ng/ml clearly indicates severe Vitamin D deficiency, and your current plan of taking 60,000 IU once weekly for 8 weeks is appropriate and safe — toxicity is extremely unlikely with this short-term regimen. However, after this course, it’s essential to check your Vitamin D and calcium levels and then continue a maintenance dose of 1,000–2,000 IU daily (or 60,000 IU monthly) to prevent deficiency recurrence. For personalized adjustment based on your lab reports and symptoms, you can reach me directly for a detailed review on WhatsApp — eight zero zero nine eight two one three three two.
