Ear infection with Perforated Ear Drum

Asked for Male, 24 Years

I have had a perforated ear drum for over 10 years. This came about because I had gromits. The gromit in my right ear fell out and the ear drum healed naturally. The left gromit did not fall out and had to be surgically removed. The ear drum has never healed. I get an ear infection in this ear sometimes. I cannot take ear drops so what is the treatment for this?

Persistent ear drum perforation may cause recurrent ear infection which should be treated with topical ear drop and oral antibiotics depending on the severity.. surgery is recommended for repairing..
