Typhoid recovered patient
I had typhoid and finished two weeks of antibiotics course. I had some doubt about what can I eat or cant eat after typhoid recovery. Some people says don't eat whole-wheat or any kind of oil for few months. There is so much confusion. Please guide me in right direction.

You just recovered. Eat a soft, basic diet for a while. 2-3 weeks. Let your body recover more, and avoid fried foods and junk food for a while. You'll be fine.

Just avoid spicy, heavy and or fatty meals, because that can cause discomfort.Focus on healthy, nutritious meals, more of fresh green vegetables, fresh,  nuts, eggs, milk and milk products,  whole grains, to help in regain good health.

I understand your confusion. After typhoid, the intestines remain weak for a few weeks, so the diet should be light, easy to digest, and nutritious. You don’t need to avoid oil or wheat for months, but it’s best to reintroduce foods gradually. 1. Foods you can take safely: Soft, light diet → khichdi, dal rice, upma, idli, curd rice, oats. Vegetables → well-cooked and soft (carrot, lauki, pumpkin, spinach, beans). Fruits → banana, apple (stewed or as puree), papaya, watermelon. Avoid very sour fruits in the beginning. Proteins → dal, moong, eggs (boiled/omelette), curd, paneer. Fluids → plenty of water, soups, coconut water, buttermilk. 2. Foods to avoid for now (2–4 weeks): Very spicy, oily, fried food. Street food / outside food (risk of reinfection). Carbonated drinks, alcohol, and too much coffee/tea. Raw salads initially (later can be added once digestion improves). 3. Gradual return to normal diet: After 2–3 weeks, you can slowly introduce chapati/whole-wheat roti, normal sabzi, and little oil in food. Full normal diet can usually be resumed after 1 month, depending on your recovery. 4. General advice: Eat small frequent meals instead of heavy meals. Take adequate rest. Continue multivitamins / probiotics if prescribed. If you feel persistent weakness, abdominal pain, or fever, follow up with your doctor. --- 👉 In short: Eat soft, light, home-cooked food for 2–3 weeks, avoid oily/spicy food, and then gradually shift back to your normal diet. You don’t need to avoid wheat or oil completely, just take in moderation
