Social anxiety and depression
Social anxiety- I am suffering from problem of social anxiety since my childhood. Talking to people, going to shops, public gathering events was very anxious and difficult for me. So i used to avoid these. Whenever i used to come home for holidays from school, i used to stay inside my home only. With time the social anxiety has reduced. Depression- i think i started around the age of 21 when i started working. Due to constant stress of social anxiety and negative thoughts i have become depressed. At present i feel sad from the morning itself. I feel like i have no energy. Doing things have become difficult and tiring. It feels like my brain is not working, not able to think properly. It feels like i am lost.

These symptoms can Be managed by correcting your diet and lifestyle and adding a few herbs that can help. Firstly follow HAIP DIET based on the anti-inflammatory principles of Ayurveda.  Include HAIP Super Power Rasayana Cheela in your diet in lunch and dinner and take brahmi ghritam at 4 pm 1 tsp. Do multi parameter blood reports atleast once a year for doing HAIP Root cause Analysis that will help nail down any internal imbalances that can be caught at an early stage and corrected. Gut microbiome health plays a key role and these symptoms are almost 80 to 90% governed by them. For correcting this HAIP DIET will help. If you need any further guidance you can consult.
Next Steps

Thank you for sharing openly 🙏. What you’re describing — long-standing **social anxiety** since childhood and now **depression** with low energy, sadness, and difficulty functioning — is very real and can feel overwhelming. Let’s break it down step by step so that you don’t feel lost: --- ### 1. Understanding Your Condition * **Social Anxiety**: Since childhood you’ve had avoidance of social situations → over time this can limit experiences, reinforce fear, and increase stress. * **Depression**: Feeling sad from morning, low energy, “brain not working,” difficulty in daily activities — these are clear symptoms of **clinical depression**. * Both conditions often **feed into each other**: anxiety leads to isolation → isolation fuels negative thoughts → negative thoughts cause depression. --- ### 2. Immediate Self-Help Measures These are small steps, but consistency matters: * **Routine**: Wake up, sleep, and eat at regular times (your brain needs rhythm). * **Movement**: Even a **20–30 min walk daily in sunlight** can improve brain chemistry (serotonin, vitamin D, endorphins). * **Breathing Practices**: * Try **alternate nostril breathing (Anulom Vilom)** or simple **slow deep breathing (4-4-6 count)** for 10 mins morning/evening. This calms both anxiety and depressive restlessness. * **Journaling**: Write down your negative thoughts → then challenge them with one rational counterpoint. This helps retrain the brain gradually. * **Social Exposure**: Start very small → greeting a shopkeeper, saying hello to a neighbor. Success in tiny steps reduces fear. --- ### 3. Professional Help (Highly Recommended) Since depression is persistent and affecting daily functioning: * **Psychiatrist**: Can evaluate if mild medication is needed to lift your mood & energy. just don't take psychiatric medicines, instead do panchakarma procedure in ayurvedic wellness centre. i can guide you which Ayurvedic medicines to take. * **Therapist (CBT)**: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is one of the most effective for both social anxiety and depression. It helps you break the cycle of negative thinking + avoidance. --- ### 4. Ayurvedic & Lifestyle Support Since you’re also open to holistic care: * **Herbal Support**: * *Brahmi, Shankhapushpi, Ashwagandha* — support mind clarity, reduce stress, improve mood. * These should be taken under guidance of an Ayurvedic doctor. * **Diet**: * Avoid excess caffeine, fried, very spicy food (they increase anxiety). * Favor warm, cooked, easy-to-digest meals (khichdi, soups, ghee in moderation). * **Abhyanga (self-massage with warm sesame oil)** before bath — calms Vata, reduces anxious restlessness, improves sleep. --- ### 5. Hope & Outlook * What you’re experiencing is **not permanent**. Social anxiety and depression are both highly **treatable** with a combination of therapy, lifestyle changes, and sometimes medication. * You’ve already noticed improvement in social anxiety compared to childhood → which means you *can* progress further. * Think of recovery as a **step-by-step strengthening of your mind** — not an overnight change. --- 👉 Would you like me to create for you a **daily structured routine (morning to night)** that combines Ayurveda + modern psychology for handling both depression and social anxiety? That way you’ll have something concrete to follow each day. Advice- self medication is hazardous, always consult ayurvedic doctor before taking ayurvedic medicine. Consult me personally for details.
Next Steps

kindly follow the advice.

🙏 Namaste, From your description, it appears you are experiencing a combination of Mansik Vikaras (psychological imbalances)  mainly Chittodvega (anxiety) and Vishad (depression). In Ayurveda, such conditions are often related to an imbalance of Vata dosha (excessive movement of mind and thoughts) along with Rajas and Tamas guna disturbances in the Manas (mind). Over time, this leads to mental fatigue, lack of enthusiasm, and disturbed functioning of Buddhi (intellect). Ayurvedic Understanding: Social anxiety: Caused by Vata aggravation and Rajoguna dominance, leading to overthinking, restlessness, and fear. Depression: Long-standing Vata imbalance with Tamas guna increase, causing heaviness, lack of motivation, and feeling lost. Management Plan: **Please make sure you are starting medications under expert guidance. Dosages to be customized by a Vaidya after Prakriti and Agni assessment.** 1. Aushadhi (Medicines / Rasayanas): Brahmi ghrita improves memory, calms the mind. Ashwagandha churna / capsule reduces stress, promotes sound sleep, and increases energy. Shankhpushpi syrup / churna is useful for anxiety and focus. Jatamansi / Tagara for calming excess thoughts and promoting deep rest. 2. Ahara (Diet): Favor warm, freshly cooked, sattvic foods milk, ghee, seasonal fruits, moong dal khichadi, nuts (almonds, walnuts). Avoid stimulants like excessive tea/coffee, packaged foods, fried and stale items, and alcohol. Use cow’s ghee and spices like nutmeg, cardamom, and saffron in small amounts for a calming effect. 3. Vihara (Lifestyle): Abhyanga (daily oil massage) with sesame oil or medicated oils (Ksheerabala taila, Brahmi taila) calms Vata and improves sleep. Regular Yoga practice  Asanas like Shavasana, Vajrasana, Balasana, Setubandhasana. Pranayama - Nadi shodhana, Bhramari, Anulom Vilom daily for 10-15 minutes. Maintain a regular sleep schedule, avoid late nights, and overuse of mobile/TV. 4. Satvavajaya Chikitsa (Mind healing techniques): Practice guided meditation and mantra chanting (e.g., Om chanting, Gayatri, or Mahamrityunjaya mantra). Gradual exposure to social situations with positive affirmations. Engage in creative activities music, art, and gardening, which balance Rajas and Tamas. 5. Panchakarma (if feasible): Shirodhara with medicated oils (Brahmi taila, Ksheerabala taila) is highly effective for anxiety and depression. Nasya therapy with Anu taila or Shadbindu taila for balancing Prana Vata and improving clarity of mind. Takradhara for deep relaxation.
Next Steps
Your condition is treatable with holistic Ayurvedic management. With proper medicines, dietary regulation, lifestyle changes, and mind-calming therapies, both anxiety and depression can be significantly reduced. I would strongly advise consulting an Ayurveda physician in person for a personalized prescription and Panchakarma planning.
Health Tips
Remember: Healing of the mind is gradual, but with consistent practice of Ayurveda, Yoga, and a sattvic lifestyle, balance and clarity will return. All the best!! 🙂 👍
