Propranolol sustained-release (SR) tablets should not be cut because the release mechanism gets disturbed. Taking half SR tablets for months doesn’t usually cause harm, but the dose becomes unpredictable.
Switching to immediate-release propranolol 10 mg is safe if your pulse, BP, and symptoms are monitored.
Typical dosing:
10 mg twice daily is commonly used for anxiety, palpitations, and rate control.
But the ideal dose depends on your resting pulse, BP, and why you were prescribed it in the first place.
Important:
If you experience low pulse (<60), dizziness, fatigue, cold extremities, or breathing issues, the dose needs adjustment immediately. Propranolol is safe, but it must be personalised otherwise you may end up taking either too little or too much.
If you want me to check your pulse trend, symptoms, and guide you to the correct dose so you use it safely, you can message me directly on nine three two six zero two zero five three six.
I’ll go through your details personally and adjust the plan precisely for you.
Can be taken like that too.
However it is better to review your prescription if you have queries regarding change of dose or continhed requirement of the medication.
