Hello, Thank you for your message. Please be reassured: 1. Touching blood on intact skin or minor cuts is extremely unlikely to cause rabies. Rabies virus does not survive well outside the body, and transmission typically occurs through deep bites or direct contact of fresh saliva with mucous membranes or deep wounds. 2. The person giving you the vaccine touching your hand and you later noticing blood is not a known risk for rabies transmission- especially if you washed your hands with soap afterward. 3. It is safe to complete your rabies vaccine schedule. Rabies vaccines are given even in higher doses (e.g., in post-exposure prophylaxis) and are generally well-tolerated. Paralysis or severe side effects from a standard course of rabies vaccine are extremely rare. 4. You are not at risk of overdose just by completing the advised doses. There is no scientific evidence that 8 rabies vaccines within a few months would lead to paralysis in a healthy person.
Next Steps
a. Complete the second booster dose as advised for peace of mind and full protection. b. If you're feeling very anxious, speak with a doctor in person or consult a clinical psychologist to address health-related anxiety. c. Maintain good hygiene after potential contact with bodily fluids. Washing with soap is usually sufficient.
Health Tips
Avoid reading or believing unverified stories online (such as paralysis after rabies vaccine), as they may increase unnecessary fear. Rabies vaccines are WHO-recommended, safe, and life-saving when taken correctly.

Thank you for sharing this—it’s clear you’re feeling anxious, and that’s completely understandable. From what you’ve described, the risk of rabies from indirect contact like someone touching your hand or mild bleeding is extremely low. Also, receiving multiple doses of the rabies vaccine is generally safe and not known to cause paralysis when given properly. The case you saw online is very rare and not typical of routine vaccination. It’s important not to panic, but since you’re feeling unsure and worried both ways, it’s best to speak with a doctor who can assess your exact situation and give you peace of mind. 👉 Please consult me directly so I can guide you based on your full history and help you feel safe: https://www.practo.com/rewa/doctor/amit-kumar-patel-generalphysician
