Periods after c-section
I had a baby 7weeks ago. My periods haven't started yet and this is my third baby. Lochia has stopped three weeks back and I am exclusively breast feeding my baby. When should I expect my periods to return as I am becoming stressed of the fear of vexing pregnant for the fourth time. And also at this rime, what is the safest way of contraception apart from condoms.

Hi. Periods can be delayed till 2 to 3 months due to breast feeding . You can go for IUCD .

Periods resume around 6-12 weeks after delivery but ovulation might resume before it.so contraception is important.discuss with your gynecologist.

Time to resume periods vary. But you start ovulating as early as 3-4 weeks post delivery. So regular use of contraceptive is recommended. Progesterone only pills is one of the safest option of lactating mother or you can go for Intrauterine Contracetive Device.
