Muscle gaining and overall fit body
Hello doctors, I am 26 years old, and I have a height of 5.3ft, weight around 61kg. I look lean and feel insecure in front of many. I eat a lot of foods but still, I look the same and don't look like I am a 26 year old boy. I assume that since, I have sickle cell trait, that's why I don't look fit and whatever I eat, doesn't increase my body mass. I have got a slightly increased belly fat due to long sitting, working hours of my software job. I have been taking a health supplement powder named "Shelcal Total" with milk after dinner. I was thinking of considering "Dhatupostik churna" but, not sure whether that's suitable for me or not. Could you please advise me of any ayurvedic medicine or formulation which I should take ? Thank you.

Your basal metabolism is very high due to which whatever you eat gets converted to energy...now where that energy is going depends on your life style. Physical workout or stress or some intellectual work consumes a lot of energy. Sometimes excessive dryness or gas too digest food too fastly So here what we have to do is to correct your cellular and liver level digestion...so that food can produce more muscle than energy. You can understand it in this way also... very stressed people eats more but still thin because energy production is more than tissue production..and that energy get consumed by brain for bearing stress

Low weight despite good food intake can be due to weak digestion/absorption. Sickle cell trait may add to weakness. Ayurveda medicines like dhatuposhak formulations, along with proper diet & lifestyle, can help improve strength and healthy weight. I suggest you consult me for a personalized plan.

“Hello Sir, your weight (61 kg at 5.3 ft) is within normal range, but due to prolonged sitting, slight belly fat can appear even in lean persons. Sickle cell trait generally does not cause weight issues, so your leanness is not related to that. Supplements like Shelcal Total are mainly for calcium and vitamin support, not for muscle or weight gain. Dhatuposhtik churna or other Ayurvedic formulations may help improve strength and nutrition, but should be taken only after proper evaluation. The best way to improve physique is through balanced diet, regular exercise, and guided supplementation if required.”
Next Steps
Continue regular balanced diet with more proteins. Do core-strengthening and muscle-building exercises. Consult an Ayurvedic doctor before starting Dhatuposhtik churna for safe dosage and suitability.

Thank you for sharing your full details 🙏. I understand your concern — despite eating well, you feel lean and not in proportion, plus you’re worried whether your **sickle cell trait** is affecting your body mass. Let’s go step by step from an **Ayurvedic viewpoint**: --- ### 🔎 Understanding Your Case 1. **Sickle Cell Trait** * Trait (carrier state) usually doesn’t cause major weight or growth issues, unlike sickle cell disease. * But it can reduce *ojas* (vital strength) and sometimes cause easy fatigue, poor assimilation of nutrition. 2. **Body Type (Prakriti) & Imbalance** * From what you describe: lean body, low muscle mass, slightly increased belly, job with long sitting → suggests **Vata-Pitta aggravation with weak Agni (digestion)** and mild Kapha in abdomen. * Means you are eating food, but nutrition is not well assimilated into tissues (*dhatuposhan* is weak). 3. **Current Supplement** * *Shelcal Total* is mainly calcium + vit D + minerals → supports bones but won’t increase muscle mass or overall nourishment. --- ### 🌿 Ayurvedic Formulations for Weight & Strength You don’t need strong Rasayana like for disease, but gentle **Balya (strength-promoting) & Brimhana (nourishing)** medicines. Some suitable options (pick 1–2, not all together): * ***Churna / Capsules** (With warm milk at night) → Improves muscle mass, strength, reduces anxiety, improves sleep. * ***Kalpa** (morning with milk) → Good for nourishment, balances Pitta, supports digestion and immunity. * ***Churna** → Yes, this is indicated in weak tissue nourishment. Can be taken 1 tsp with milk after meals. But it works better with a Rasayana like ****or *******. * ******(1 tsp daily morning)** → Improves *ojas*, vitality, digestion and gives steady weight gain. * ******Lehyam** (if digestion is not very weak) → Excellent for building weight and strength. --- ### 🍲 Diet & Lifestyle (Most Important) 1. **Diet** * Emphasize *brimhana* foods: milk, ghee, dates, soaked almonds, figs, rice, wheat, mung dal, jaggery, sesame, cow ghee. * Protein sources: paneer, moong, urad dal, eggs (if non-veg is ok), chicken soup occasionally. * Avoid too much junk, aerated drinks, excessive spicy/fermented foods. 2. **Lifestyle** * **Exercise**: Light weight training or yoga daily → stimulates appetite and channels nutrition into muscles. * **Sleep**: 7–8 hrs, before midnight, very important for tissue nourishment. * Reduce long sitting by short walks every 1–2 hrs. --- ⚠️ **Note**: Since you have **sickle cell trait**, avoid strong heating tonics (like too much Gokshura, Shilajit, or hot Rasayana) without supervision. Stick to gentle nourishing ones. --- 👉 Would you like me to suggest a **specific 3-month Ayurvedic plan** (diet + medicine + lifestyle) tailored for weight gain with your background of sickle cell trait? Advice- self medication is hazardous, always consult ayurvedic doctor before taking ayurvedic medicine. Consult me personally for details
