**Specialist Doctor's Response:** **Re: Persistent Low-Grade Fever After Treatment** Dear Patient, I understand your concern about the persistent low-grade fever (99.1°F) lasting 7 days despite treatment. Let me analyze your situation: **Clinical Assessment:** 1. Your symptoms (sore throat, cough, now fever and nasal blockage) suggest:    - Likely viral upper respiratory infection (common cold)    - Possible secondary bacterial infection (though less likely if improving) 2. Regarding your medications:    - Antibiotics (Augmentin): Complete the full 5-day course as prescribed    - Deflazacort (steroid): Should be tapered, not stopped abruptly    - Montair-LC (antiallergic): Can continue if helping nasal symptoms    - Dolo (Paracetamol): Safe for fever control as needed **Recommendations:** 1. Immediate actions:    - Complete the antibiotic course (last dose)    - Begin tapering Deflazacort (don't stop suddenly)    - Continue nasal saline irrigation 2-3 times daily 2. Monitoring:    - Check temperature twice daily    - Watch for new symptoms: ear pain, sinus tenderness, shortness of breath 3. When to worry:    - If fever persists >100°F after completing antibiotics    - If symptoms worsen or new symptoms appear    - If fever continues beyond 10 days total duration **Next Steps:** 1. If fever persists after completing treatment:    - Basic blood tests (CBC, ESR/CRP)    - Chest examination to rule out complications    - Possible need for chest X-ray if symptoms persist 2. For personalized evaluation and proper steroid tapering guidance, I recommend a consultation.
