Hello Doctor,
Some unknown liquid splashed on my head while walking on the terrace in the evening. It was only on my head, I immediately washed thoroughly with shampoo and water.
I am worried if it could be bat droppings (saliva/urine).
I already completed full rabies PEP recently (5 doses, last dose 29/04/2026).
Is anything needed in this situation?

Good that you washed the area immediately â that was the right thing to do. Bat urine or droppings on intact skin (no open wounds, no contact with eyes or mouth) do not transmit rabies. Rabies transmission requires the virus to enter through broken skin or mucous membranes. Since your skin was intact and you've already completed a full 5-dose rabies PEP, you are well protected. No additional vaccination or treatment is needed in this situation. Just monitor for any skin irritation at the site â if there's itching or redness, a simple antihistamine will help.

No need to worry at all 👍
Since you washed it immediately and have already completed full rabies PEP recently, the risk from possible bat droppings is extremely low.😊
