Your symptoms suggest post-infectious cough following bronchitis. Initially, your symptoms improves without antibiotics suggested that you have viral bronchitis .After a viral respiratory infection, cough can persist for 3–6 weeks due to airway irritation even after the infection improves.
Next Steps
Take tab Levocetirizine 5 mg once at night for 5 days and Syrup Ambroxol + Guaifenesin + Terbutaline syrup 10 ml twice daily for 5 days after food. For fever, Paracetamol 650 mg thrice daily, if fever present. Also take CBC,EDR,CRP,Chest xray, sputum examination.
Health Tips
Do steam inhalation 2–3 times daily and drink warm fluids. Avoid cold drinks, dust exposure, and smoking areas as they can prolong cough. Contact me any time on Prato for further consultation

At 54 years, this pattern suggests: • Initial viral infection (cold + fever + bronchitis) • Partial recovery • Now recurrence of fever after ~30 days • Persistent cough not fully resolved This can happen due to: 1. Post-viral cough (can last 4–8 weeks) 2. Secondary bacterial infection 3. Sinus infection with post-nasal drip 4. Early pneumonia (less likely but must rule out) 5. Underlying asthma/reactive airway Since fever has returned after 1 month, this should not be ignored. The key question: Is the fever high and persistent, or mild and intermittent? At your age, recurrent fever with cough requires proper evaluation — not just paracetamol.
Next Steps
You should get: ✔ CBC ✔ CRP ✔ Chest X-ray ✔ Oxygen saturation check ✔ Possibly sputum test (if productive cough) If chest X-ray is normal and inflammatory markers low → likely post-viral cough. If CRP elevated or X-ray shows changes → antibiotics may be required. Do NOT start antibiotics blindly without evaluation. Seek urgent care if: • Breathlessness • Chest pain • High fever >101°F • Oxygen
Health Tips
✔ Steam inhalation 2–3 times daily ✔ Adequate hydration ✔ Avoid cold exposure ✔ Check blood sugar (important at this age) ✔ Rest properly Post-bronchitis cough can persist for weeks, but recurrent fever after 30 days needs investigation to rule out secondary infection. If you tell me: • Current temperature • Type of cough (dry or sputum?) • Any breathlessness • Any diabetes or BP history I can help assess urgency more precisely. Booking an online consultation would allow structured evaluation and prevent complications from missed infection.

Persistent cough after a viral infection or bronchitis can sometimes last 3–4 weeks due to airway irritation. However, since you developed fever again after a month, it should be evaluated to rule out secondary infection. Basic tests like chest X-ray and CBC may help check if there is any ongoing infection or inflammation. Meanwhile, stay well hydrated, take steam inhalation, and avoid dust or cold exposure. Based on your symptoms, this may require proper clinical assessment and prescription. You may book an online consultation with me for detailed evaluation and personalised treatment plan.
