Your symptoms of cold, cough, and fever (body heating) accompanied by significant physical weakness suggest a viral Upper Respiratory Tract Infection (URTI). While steam inhalation and salt water gargling provide symptomatic relief, the 'weakness' and inability to perform physical activities indicate that your body is diverting significant energy to fight the infection. Monitoring your temperature and maintaining hydration is crucial at this stage
Next Steps
Hydration Strategy: Drink at least 3 liters of fluids daily (water, coconut water, or fresh fruit juices). Hydration is the most effective way to combat the weakness you are feeling. âFever Monitoring: Keep a log of your temperature every 6 hours. If the fever stays above 101°F despite rest, a dose of Paracetamol (under medical guidance) can help manage the 'body heating' and aches. âRest is Non-negotiable: As Dr. Chaithra mentioned, you need at least 3 days of complete physical rest. Pushing your body during a viral fever can prolong the recovery time. âWarning Signs: If you develop any shortness of breath, chest pain, or if the fever persists beyond 3â5 days, you should consult for a blood workup (CBC) to rule out secondary bacterial infections.
