Symptoms suggest acute URTI/allergic rhinitis with postnasal drip causing dry cough and throat irritation; however duration, fever status, and nasal discharge need clarification. As patient is in a remote area, symptomatic management can be advised initially.
Next Steps

For dry cough, throat irritation, dry mouth, and sinus-like symptoms in a remote area with limited medicine access, the most basic measures that help significantly are: steam inhalation 2-3 times a day, warm salt water gargles, staying well hydrated with warm water, and honey mixed with ginger which has good natural soothing properties. If you can find a basic pharmacy, a simple antihistamine (like cetirizine) can help with the sinus and throat irritation, and a steam inhalation preparation can help with congestion.
Next Steps
Please consult me directly on Practo for a detailed evaluation once you have better connectivity â if symptoms worsen, develop into fever, or you have breathing difficulty, seek medical attention urgently.
Hey, this could be due to weather changes or acquired infection as you're travelling. Do gargles with saline warm water 5-6 times a day . Keep your body hydrated.
You'll need treatment if fever occurs or symptoms increase.
Next Steps
kindly consult if you have fever or sore throat or any other condition.
Female, 30 years
Based on your symptoms—dry cough, throat irritation, dry mouth, and a sensation of sinus congestion—the most common causes are a viral upper respiratory infection, allergic rhinitis/post-nasal drip, irritation from dust or dry air, or mild sinus inflammation.
What you can do if medical access is limited
For dry cough and throat irritation
* Warm water frequently throughout the day.
* Warm salt-water gargles 3–4 times daily.
* Honey 1–2 teaspoons (if you are not diabetic and not allergic) can help reduce cough.
* Lozenges/cough drops if available.
Over-the-counter medicines commonly used
* Cetirizine 10 mg at night for 3–5 days if allergy or post-nasal drip is suspected. It may cause drowsiness.
* If the cough is troublesome and dry, a cough suppressant containing dextromethorphan may help (follow package directions and avoid if pregnant unless advised by a doctor).
For sinus symptoms
* Steam inhalation for 5–10 minutes, 2–3 times daily.
* Saline nasal drops or saline nasal spray if available.
For dry mouth
* Increase fluid intake.
* Avoid excessive tea, coffee, alcohol, and smoking.
* Suck on sugar-free candies or lozenges to stimulate saliva.
Seek medical attention urgently if you develop
* Fever >38.5°C lasting more than a few days
* Shortness of breath or wheezing
* Chest pain
* Coughing blood
* Severe facial pain or swelling
* Symptoms lasting more than 2–3 weeks
* Difficulty swallowing or inability to drink fluids
A few questions
1. How many days have you had these symptoms?
2. Do you have fever, body aches, or headache?
3. Is there any nasal discharge (clear, white, yellow, or green)?
4. Are you pregnant or breastfeeding?
5. Do you have any history of allergies, asthma, or sinusitis?
Your answers would help me suggest the most appropriate treatment approach.
