A persistent, severe cough for 2 weeks following a fever, which has not resolved with standard over-the-counter cough syrups, warrants a proper evaluation rather than self-medication. While your mucus is clear and free of blood—which is a reassuring sign—the ongoing irritation could be due to a post-viral cough, hyper-reactive airways, or a lingering secondary respiratory infection. Prescribing specific medication or antibiotics without examination is unsafe and clinically inappropriate."
Next Steps
To help you get the right treatment, you can connect with me directly through an online consultation right here on this platform. I will evaluate your symptoms in detail and prescribe the exact required medications."
Health Tips
Stop taking different over-the-counter cough syrups, as they can dry out your throat and worsen a lingering dry cough.
