"A severe cough and cold accompanied by positional nasal congestion (nose getting 'closed' when lying down) is a classic sign of Acute Rhinosinusitis or Viral URTI. When you lie flat, blood flow increases to the nasal passages and gravity prevents mucus from draining properly, leading to the sensation of the nose closing up. The soreness in your nose is likely due to the inflammation of the nasal mucosa or 'skin chafing' from frequent blowing/wiping
Next Steps
To receive a prescription for a non-drowsy decongestant or a medicated nasal spray and to ensure the infection isn't spreading to your ears or chest, please book a full consultation session via my Practo profile."
