Common cold is very common after delivery and most cold medicines are safe during breastfeeding,
your baby will not be harmed if we choose the right medicines
Continue breastfeeding it actually helps protect your baby.
Medicine

Hello Im Dr aryan
Can understand your apprehension, and concerns with respect to breast feeding
Next Steps
Take tab PCM 500mg for 2 times a day for 3 days
Use nasal saline spray for cold 4 times a day for 3 daya
Health Tips
The general rule of thumb is to keep a space of 3-4 hours after taking medication and next breast feeding. Since its not very predictable if you ever have take antibiotics use breast pump and store the milk (not more than 6 hours at room temperature)
You can safely take Paracetamol for fever/body pain and Cetirizine or Loratadine for cold symptoms. These medicines are safe during breastfeeding and will not harm your baby. Steam inhalation and saline nasal spray are also safe and helpful.
Next Steps
Continue breastfeeding. Take medicines only as needed. If symptoms persist beyond 3–4 days or fever increases, consult a doctor.
Health Tips
Avoid cold medicines containing pseudoephedrine, phenylephrine, or codeine. Drink warm fluids, take rest, wear a mask, and maintain hand hygiene to protect the baby.
You can take simple pain‑relief and use local remedies for a cold while continuing to breastfeed, but strong oral “cold & flu” combinations and decongestants like pseudoephedrine should be avoided or used only under a doctor’s advice.
