I understand your concern since you are breastfeeding a 1-year-old baby and experiencing left-sided abdominal and back pain.
Meftal Spas contains Mefenamic Acid (a painkiller, NSAID) and Dicyclomine (an antispasmodic).
Dicyclomine, however, is not recommended during breastfeeding.
Next Steps
1) You can take Paracetamol 500 mg–650 mg (every 6–8 hrs, max 4 doses/day)
2) Drink water, rest, and monitor your symptoms.
3) Get these tests done: CBC, CRP, RFT, Urine R/M, USG abdomen and pelvis
Consult with me once reports arrive
Health Tips
🚨 When to seek urgent care:
1) Severe or persistent pain
2) Fever with chills
3) Burning urination or blood in urine
4) Nausea/vomiting
5) Pain worsening with time
Meftal spas(mefenamic acid 250mg +dicyclomine 10mg)is a big no no for breastfeeding mothers due to the potential risks it poses on the baby.
Next Steps
Tab Paracetamol 500-650mg-1 tab twice a day after meals for 3 days. (max 4 tablets per day).
Tab Pantoprazole (40) - 1 tab once a day before meal for 3days
Also since no information was passed about your bowel habits.. if there is added constipation do opt for lactulose based syrups like Syrup Duphalac 2tsp at night followed by a glass of warm water for 1 week
Health Tips
if pain doesn't subside /worsens in three days / fever develops / the pain recurs/diarrhoea develops do opt for physical consultation
