As your mother is already taking tablets for bp and migraine - bp fluctuations, headaches, cheek swelling it is may be a sign of hypertensive emergency and not pointing to migraine evaluation as bp is getting uncontrollable Some bp medicines can cause facial flushing and Some migraine medications also affecting bp
Next Steps
If her BP is repeatedly above 160/100, or she has: Severe “worst-ever” headache Blurred vision Vomiting Weakness on one side Slurring of speech Chest pain YOU SHOULD Take her to Emergency immediately. -consult the physician for proper and detailed evaluation of bp -you should monitor bp regularly -check for pulse rate, saturation frequently -avoid skipping medications -reduce salt in diet

Since she already has BP and migraine, and now has: • Severe headaches • BP fluctuations • Swelling and redness of cheeks She should first consult a Physician (MD Medicine) or Cardiologist for proper BP evaluation and medicine adjustment. If headache is very severe, sudden, or different from her usual migraine — urgent evaluation is needed. Cheek swelling with redness could be: • BP-related flushing • Drug side effect • Allergy • Hormonal issue If BP is very high (≥180/110), severe headache, vision changes, vomiting, or confusion — go to emergency immediately. Start with a Physician/Internal Medicine specialist. Based on your symptoms, this may require proper clinical assessment and prescription. You may book an online consultation with me for detailed evaluation and personalised treatment plan.

Your mother has: • Known hypertension • History of migraine • Now → worsening headaches • BP fluctuations • Cheek swelling with redness This combination needs proper evaluation — especially at 46+ age. Possible causes: • Uncontrolled hypertension • Hypertensive headache • Migraine flare • Drug side effect (some BP medicines can cause facial swelling) • Allergic reaction • Hormonal/perimenopausal vascular changes ⚠️ Important: Facial swelling with redness can sometimes indicate: • Angioedema (especially if on ACE inhibitors like Enalapril/Ramipril) • Allergic reaction • Sinus inflammation If swelling involves lips, tongue, or breathing difficulty → emergency immediately.

Health Tips
✔ Check BP twice daily and record ✔ Note headache timing and triggers ✔ Review exact BP medicine name ✔ Check if swelling worsens ✔ Avoid self-adjusting medicines Since she already has BP and migraine history and now symptoms are worsening, this requires medication review — not just painkillers. If you can share: • Her BP readings • Exact BP medication name • Nature of headache (one side or whole head) • Whether swelling is increasing I can guide more precisely. Booking an online consultation would help assess whether this is medication-related, hypertensive crisis risk, or migraine escalation and guide safe next steps.

Sometimes, when Patient is taking hypertensive medication for a longer period, the Medicine needs to be changed as the body adapt or get used to the older dose. Hence the medication needs to be changed in either it salt or dosage. Since the patient is having swelling, I would suggest you should go and consult your nearby physician physically
Next Steps
Keep on doing two hourly, BP monitoring and make a chart before going to your physician
Health Tips
Look for signs, such as breathlessness, vomiting, blackouts, decreased visions, and dizziness

Dear Patient, Since your mother is a known case of hypertension and migraine and is now experiencing increased headache frequency, BP fluctuations, and new-onset cheek swelling with redness, she requires prompt clinical evaluation. The current symptoms may be due to: • Uncontrolled blood pressure • Migraine exacerbation • Drug-related side effect • Allergic or inflammatory reaction • Less commonly, facial infection or vascular cause Advice: • Monitor blood pressure twice daily and record readings • Do not change or stop prescribed BP medications without consultation • Check if any new medicine was started recently • Apply cold compress over swollen area if mild She should consult a Physician / Internal Medicine specialist first for complete evaluation. If BP is significantly high (>160/100 mmHg) or headache is severe with vomiting, vision changes, weakness, or confusion, seek emergency care immediately. Further evaluation may require blood tests and medication adjustment. For detailed assessment, medication review, and personalized management, kindly text me over Practo for full advice and treatment.
