You do not need to start any medicines right now. But it is important to check your blood pressure regularly.
Measure your BP when you are relaxed and have been sitting quietly for at least 5 minutes.
Next Steps
If your readings are repeatedly 140/90 mmHg or higher, you may need to start treatment. Both numbers are important:
1. The top number (systolic)
2. The bottom number (diastolic)
Keep a record of your BP readings and show them at your next consultation.
Health Tips
Please seek medical help immediately if you notice any of these symptoms:
1. Chest pain
2. Difficulty in breathing
3. Severe headache
4. Dizziness or feeling faint
Not at the moment with 90. But keep a track of it. Consult someone if it rises further.
Next Steps
Take exact readings 2 times a day where one time should be after you play snd once after you wake up. Do this for 3-5 days and then consult someone (or me). Otherwise there's nothing you need right now atleast till it doesn't go above 90. So track it properly and give a call. You're still a bit young so might not need it now. Better to keep tracking it.
A diastolic BP around 90 mmHg for a few days in winter, especially in an active person like you (badminton 5 days/week, normal BMI), does NOT automatically mean you need medication.
In winter, blood vessels constrict due to cold, which commonly causes:
• Slight rise in diastolic BP
• Higher readings during anxiety, poor sleep, or stress
If your readings are around 120–130 / 85–90, this is usually borderline or stress-related, not established hypertension.
Next Steps
1. Monitor correctly for 1–2 weeks
• Check BP twice a day
• Sit calmly for 5 minutes before measuring
• Avoid caffeine/exercise 30 minutes before
• Note average, not single readings
2. Medication is needed only if:
• Diastolic BP stays ≥90–95 consistently for 2–3 weeks
• OR BP goes ≥140/90 repeatedly
• OR there is diabetes, kidney disease, or heart disease
3. If BP remains borderline, a doctor may advise lifestyle measures first, not medicines.
Health Tips
• Keep yourself warm in winters (especially mornings)
• Reduce salt intake
• Stay well hydrated
• Avoid checking BP repeatedly (causes anxiety spikes)
• Continue badminton — it protects your heart
• Sleep 7–8 hours (poor sleep raises diastolic BP)
It may be due to vessel construction but when u are checking that also matters after playing?? One should check in relaxed stat . Check twice a day ..is there family history of HTN or not ?? And what about systolic blood pressure that I need to know as well ..
For next few days you can check every alternate day relaxed sitting position blood pressure. Have that record. And can go for just basics CBC RBS lipid profile TSH . And most importantly avoid package food junk added salt ...
Next Steps
monitoring
Health Tips
maintain a healthy lifestyle, continue playing badminton, have balance diet with law salt nothing much to worry about. for more guidance can take appointment
A diastolic BP around 90 mmHg for a few days is considered borderline high.
During winters, BP can rise temporarily due to cold-induced blood vessel constriction, so mild elevation is commonly seen.
As your weight is normal, you are physically active and there is no known medical illness, immediate medication is usually not required at this stage.
However, BP should be confirmed with proper monitoring before deciding treatment.
Next Steps
Check BP twice daily (morning and evening) for 7–10 days
• Measure BP after 5 minutes of rest
• Avoid tea/coffee, smoking or exercise 30 minutes before BP check
• Maintain regular exercise and adequate sleep
• Review BP readings with a doctor
Health Tips
Reduce salt intake (avoid pickles, papad, packaged food)
• Maintain hydration during winters
• Avoid stress and late-night sleep
• If diastolic BP remains ≥90 consistently or symptoms like headache, dizziness occur, medical evaluation is required
At present, lifestyle modification and BP monitoring is advised, not immediate long-term medication.
