Hello Doctor,
I recently got my Vitamin B12 test done and my level is 147 pg/ml, which is below the normal range.
I am experiencing weakness, fatigue, and low energy.
Could you please guide me:
Should I take Vitamin B12 injections or tablets?
What dosage and duration would be suitable for me?
Any specific diet recommendations? I am vegetarian

Dont worry
Being a vegetarian, its a very common thing for vitamin b12 to be on the lower side
You can take tablets - Mecofol and continue it once daily for atleast 15 days
Meanwhile simultaneously you work up on your diet - increase dairy intake , paneer , yoghurt, seeds
Also repeat the medication once a month for one week to keep the levels within range
Vitamin B12 is low (147) → explains weakness and fatigue.
Start oral B12 1500–2000 mcg daily for 2–3 months; injections only if severe symptoms.
Include milk, curd, paneer, fortified foods regularly.
Repeat level after 2–3 months.
Please consult me for proper evaluation and treatment.
Yes you need both injection on 5 alternate days.and also need tablets for maintenance.,you are vegetarian so in dietary b12 has low source.thatswhy you have b12 deficiency. Intake of milk ,fibrous diet, green vegetables has low vitamin b12 but for daily diet may improve and maintain your b12.please consult me on practo for further management.
