I completely understand your anxiety—anal fistula can be emotionally draining even when you have no symptoms. Let me clarify your situation based on what you've shared. --- ## 📍 **Your Current Condition** * 30-year-old female * Had two abscesses initially * No pain/discharge/discomfort for **10 months** * MRI shows **“zero-length track”** * Concerned whether it can **heal on its own** or **turn into recto-vaginal fistula** --- ## 💡 Can a fistula heal by itself? 👉 **Yes, in very rare cases, a superficial or low-grade fistula can fibrose and close over time, especially if:** * No discharge or swelling for long period * MRI shows **no active tract or minimal fibrotic remnant** * No recurrent abscesses * No bowel diseases (like Crohn’s) 📌 *Your "zero-length track" in MRI + no symptoms for 10 months strongly suggests healing or a dormant/inactive fibrosed tract.* 👉 If it's a **fibrosed tract**, it usually does **not reopen unless re-infected or constipation/injury occurs.** --- ## ❗ VERY IMPORTANT ### Can an anal fistula **turn into a recto-vaginal fistula?** 👉 **NO — It won’t turn into a recto-vaginal fistula on its own.** 🔹 Recto-vaginal fistulas are usually caused by: * Childbirth trauma * Pelvic surgery or radiation * Crohn's disease * Repeated obstetric injury * Advanced untreated deep fistula moving through recto-vaginal septum (rare and painful) 👉 **If yours is healed/inactive with zero-length, it will NOT grow upward and enter vaginal canal.** ➡️ **Only complex deep high perianal fistulas (high trans/supra sphincteric types)** may rarely progress. But your MRI indicates **no active involvement**. --- ## ✔️ Final Reassurance * 🔹 **Your fistula seems either healed or dormant.** * 🔹 It **cannot become recto-vaginal fistula if there is no active infection or tract.** * 🔹 **If for 10 months nothing happened, it’s a positive sign.** --- ## 🔍 What You Should Do Now | Step | Action | | ---- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | 1 | Maintain soft stools (to avoid trauma) | | 2 | Avoid constipation—Drink 2L warm water/day | | 3 | Avoid straining during toilet | | 4 | Take high-fiber diet | | 5 | Follow up with colorectal surgeon once per year or if symptoms return | | 6 | If anxiety is high—consider repeat MRI after 6–12 months (only if doctor suggests) | --- ## 🧘‍♀️ Mental Health Note Anxiety over medical issues is very common, especially after painful events like abscesses. You're getting triggered by “what if it returns”. Try to remind yourself: ✔️ *Your MRI confirms healing* ✔️ *10 months without symptoms is not coincidence—the body repaired itself* ✔️ *You caught it early; that prevented progression* If needed, mild **counselling/pranayam (deep breathing)** can help reduce health anxiety. --- ## 🟢 When Should You Worry? Seek medical help immediately if: ❗ New swelling or pain around anus ❗ Discharge (blood/pus) ❗ Fever or constipation-related injury As long as none of these happen—you are doing well. --- ## 🌟 Conclusion ✨ **It is likely healed or dormant. It is extremely unlikely to turn into a recto-vaginal fistula in your condition.** ✨ Continue healthy bowel habits, stay stress-free. ✨ At maximum, get 1 follow-up MRI next year only if advised. --- You're safe right now. Please don’t let anxiety take away your peace. Your body has done its work quietly over 10 months ❤️ If you'd like, I can: 👉 Give you a diet + bowel care routine to prevent recurrence 👉 Suggest anxiety/calming techniques Let me know what would help you feel safer 🙏 Advice- self medication is hazardous, always consult ayurvedic doctor before taking ayurvedic medicine. It may or may not depends upon the size and intensity of abscess caused due to anal fistula. Are you taking any medications for them?Need to check your mri and other reports too. You can take triphala guggulu-0-0-1 before bed and apply kasisadi oil on the affected areas of anus.
Next Steps
Consult me.

If MRI shows a zero-length tract and no symptoms for 10 months, it may have healed or become very minimal. It will not turn into a recto-vaginal fistula on its own. But proper evaluation is still important to confirm healing. Ayurveda can help support complete recovery and prevent recurrence. I suggest you consult me for a personalized plan.
