Wisdom teeth, even if they haven’t erupted through the gum and are not causing pain, can sometimes need extraction for preventive reasons. Here’s why your dentist might have recommended it:  1. Impacted Wisdom Teeth:    If the tooth is impacted (trapped in the jawbone or gums), it can cause problems in the future, such as infection, damage to neighboring teeth, or cyst formation.  2. Crowding or Alignment Issues:    Even if it’s not causing discomfort now, a wisdom tooth can push other teeth out of alignment as it tries to emerge, affecting your smile and bite.  3. Hidden Decay or Gum Disease:    Impacted teeth can be hard to clean, making them prone to decay or gum infections that can go unnoticed until they become severe.  4. Preventive Care:    Removing the wisdom tooth before it causes problems is often easier and safer than addressing complications later.  It’s always a good idea to get a second opinion if you have concerns, but trust that most dentists make this recommendation to prevent future complications and keep your oral health intact.
Next Steps
If you’re unsure about the necessity of the extraction, ask your dentist for:  - A detailed explanation of their recommendation.  - An X-ray of the tooth to understand its position and potential risks.

Hi.. it will be better to diagnose if you can share an x ray Otherwise i would like to ask few questions 1. Reason for visiting a dentist? 2. Is your mouth opening normal ? 3. Are you having difficulty in opening your mouth or chewing food? 4. Is there any decayed tooth associated with it? 5. Is your teeth alignment changing recently? If you are not having any of the above issues, then there is no need to remove your wisdom tooth. But as your wisdom tooth is inside the bone and not coming into the mouth like other tooth, there are mostly likely chances you may get trouble with that tooth at some point of your life. So whenever you are having pain or other issues related to that tooth then you can go for removal.
Next Steps
Till then you can go for checkup every 6 months

Dentists won't recommend extraction of all the wisdom teeth. No need to worry. Only impacted teeth, some angulated teeth and teeth with some other criteria are only advised for removal as they would pose severe risks in the future.
