White coat syndrome
My blood pressure is normal at home, but high at doctor office due to anxiety/white coat syndrome. Doctor says bp tablet cannot be given to people who have normal bp at home, then bp will get too low. But I told him since my bp is high in medical settings, why can't he prescribe? Is he right or am I right? What would you as a doctor do under the circumstances? Please give clear answers and I can consider a consult for more guidance.

White coat hypertension, also known as white coat syndrome, is a phenomenon where an individual's blood pressure measurements are elevated in a clinical setting, such as a doctor's office, compared to their blood pressure in other environments. This elevation may be attributed to anxiety or stress associated with the medical environment or the presence of healthcare professionals, rather than an underlying medical condition. Consequently, no medical intervention is typically required for this condition.

Patient's detailed medical history is required. It is recommended to consult a doctor professional through the Practo app or visit a local medical facility for a thorough evaluation. Please keep in mind that detailed medical history is crucial for proper diagnosis and treatment.
