Soon after birth, there is about 10% weight loss in most babies. Then the
birth weight is regained by 10-14 days. In a term baby, the initial weight gain may
be 10-40 g/day. The weight gain during infancy is as follows:
Weight gain in the first 3 months = 200 g/week
(after regaining birth weight)
Weight gain in the next 3 months = 150 g/week
Weight gain in the next 6 months = 100 g/week

The weight at 5month of age should be double of birth weight and at 1yr thrice the birth weight.Taking an avg weight of Indian children as 2.5kg. ur child has already attained 1yr weight
