Weight plateau of 3 month old
I want to get guidance regarding my baby’s weight. She is currently 3 months 2 days old. Her weight on 07th april was 4.9 kg and was around 5.2 kg on 17th April. When checked again on 24th April, it was 5.2 kg. This suggests there has been little to no weight gain over the past 7–8 days. In terms of other parameters: She is active and alert Urine output is good and frequent Feeding is regular (I have been ensuring frequent and effective feeds) Apart from weight, she has shown good length growth. Her birth height was 46 cm, on 07th April it was 56.8 cm and on the 24th April it is around 60-61 cm. Lately, she has also started to appear leaner compared to earlier. Could you please advise if this short plateau in weight gain is acceptable at this stage. She is exclusively breastfed and takes 9-10 feeds in 24 hours. She also gives longer stretch of sleep at night with 1-2 feeds or maybe none sometimes.

Short plateau of 7–10 days can happen and is usually not a concern if baby is active, feeding well and passing urine. Overall weight gain trend is okay and length gain is good, so nothing alarming. Just ensure effective feeding (good latch, one breast emptied before switching). Night long gaps sometimes can reduce intake, so try not to skip feeds regularly. Continue monitoring weight weekly. If no gain continues for 2–3 weeks or baby looks lethargic/feeds poorly, then get checked.

I understand your concern, however infants show weight fluctuations normally. We don't advise to check weight or other parameters every week or every other week. You can measure it every month or once in 2 months after this age. As you also say her feeding and activities are good it should not be of much concern. But it's also important to evaluate the breastfeeding practices, how the development of the child is, and other things too, to get a clear idea of the baby's current condition. Feel free to consult to clear further doubts and if you are still apprehensive.
Next Steps
Monitor weight after a month. keep close watch on urine output, breastfeeding time and quantity.

Monitor weight on monthly basis and not on weekly basis if baby is active, playful and achieving milestones well..And after 9-12 month of age even monthly monitoring not needed as weight remain static sometimes and it creat doubt/concern in parents mind .You are already feeding baby well as per details shared by you showed you are feeding baby well and taking good care hence height also having good increament

Greetings It is common for infant weight gain to fluctuate over short periods, like a single week, especially when other growth markers like length are increasing significantly. Since your baby is active, alert, and has a good urine output, these are reassuring signs of adequate hydration and overall health. A "plateau" in weight can sometimes happen during a "growth spurt" where energy is directed more toward height or developmental milestones. However, because she appears leaner, it is important to have her evaluated by a pediatrician to ensure she is meeting her growth targets. They can plot her measurements on a formal growth chart to look at the overall trend rather than a single week's data.
