Your weight is slightly above the healthy range, and lifestyle changes like regular walking and balanced meals can help. Avoid self-medicating for fat loss, and focus on gradual, safe weight management.

Hello
First of all, I wanted to clarify one thing that there is a set criteria to prescribe any weight loss medication, and that is either your BMI has to be more than equal to 30 KG per metre square or more than equal to 27 KG per metre, square plus there should be a obesity related comorbidity like diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, etc.
As you didn’t mention any of the comorbidity or any of the other complaints or diagnosis so I cannot get into that conclusion , whether you require weight loss medication or not
Also, you need to be thoroughly investigated in all aspects. For example, your blood works has to be done to properly assess your current health situation before prescribing, and that is not there also.
I know being a student, you would be considering your health as your secondary goal, but let me tell you that incorporating lifestyle modification would be a great help in the long run as number of trials had done on those medications, effectivity, but unlimited trials are there for their side effects, and still, we don’t know much regarding there side effects & long term complications.
My conclusive advice would be to incorporate small changes in your lifestyle like increasing your walk duration also incorporating more protein in each of your meals which could be easily done by tweaking your food options. So start by one change at a time and slowly progress. This is nothing to be achieved in just one day or in few months. This is basically an ongoing process which would take time, but that would be more fruitful.
Thank you
Next Steps
Adding one lifestyle modification in his routine at a time like he can start by increasing his walk duration to at least 20-30 minutes per day and then slowly progress
Health Tips
Taking adequate protein with each of his meals
Limiting outside food or fast food slowly from his diet
Start incorporating some physical activity, like for example, walking or playing any sport of his choice
Medicines not advised for weight loss.
Stay active physically, cut down fats and sugary substances in diet, take more of fresh vegetables, fruits. Nuts, drink more water.
Get thyroid profile done and share results.
• At 20 years, 97 kg, 5’11”, BMI ~30 → this falls in the overweight–early obesity range, but not a condition where fat-loss medicines are the first choice, especially without supervision.
• Targeted belly-fat medicines do NOT exist. Fat loss always happens systemically.
• Most fat-loss medicines (or “shortcuts”) either:
• Suppress appetite aggressively
• Affect heart rate, BP, mood, or hormones
• Cause rebound weight gain when stopped
• At your age, medicines are rarely justified unless lifestyle fails despite proper structure, or there are conditions like diabetes, PCOS, etc.
Next Steps
What you should do now (practical & PG-friendly)
Health Tips
• Sleep 7 hours (fat loss hormones depend on sleep)
• Eat slowly (very underrated)
• Consistency > intensity
• Aim for 0.5–1 kg loss per month — this is real fat loss

Heyy,
Usually the first management for weight reduction is diet modification followed by but of exercise like say 30-45 mins brisk walk for 5 days/ week and that should be far better than any medication because it will help for future management.
Next Steps
for any further idea abt diet and exercise, pls contact :)
Taking medications to reduce fat will only cause harm to your other body organs,
So my suggestion is to stay focus and reduce sugary abd fried food from your diet and walk 5000 steps initially then progress to 10000 steps daily and eat more protein and high fiber diet and stay consistent. You will surely notice wt reducing day by day

Hello, at your age resorting to medicines is not an option. Moreover no medicine will work without regular measures such as healthy diet, exercise and lifestyle changes. Please consult a physician for proper evaluation of your current physical condition and further plan and guidance.
