My vit d level is 9 and my doctor asked me to take 60000 IU every alternate day for 3 months. I'm worried this dose is too high and will lead to toxicity. Please guide for correct dosage.
(I have taken 10 tablets as of now)

A vitamin D level of 9 ng/mL indicates severe deficiency, and in such cases, higher corrective doses are commonly prescribed for a short duration to restore levels effectively.
Regarding the prescribed dose (60,000 IU on alternate days):
This regimen is sometimes used in cases of very low vitamin D under medical supervision. Vitamin D toxicity is rare and usually occurs only with very high daily doses taken continuously for many months without monitoring.
How to support vitamin D naturally:
- Sun exposure: Aim for 15–30 minutes of direct sunlight on arms and legs, 4–5 days a week, preferably between late morning and early afternoon.
- Dietary sources: Include fortified milk and cereals, egg yolk, mushrooms exposed to sunlight, and fatty fish such as sardines or salmon.

Hi.. thanks for your query .yes ,60k is a mega dose which leads to toxicity and absorption issue as well.better to take 5000 IU per day.Pleade ask me directly for details and personalized diet plan for you.
No this will not lead to toxicity as your levels are below 30. This dosage you need to take one tablet per week for 8 weeks that is 2 months . Then 60k one tab per month for 3 months . Total this is a 8 month supplimentation. Take vit d with a major meal of the day woth healthy fats like ghee, curd milk etc. Never on a empty stomach.
Recommend dosage is recommended as per the low level of vitamin D. It’s extremely low. But you can also work on your metabolism rate so your body will start absorbing it through natural resources.
