If you are currently being treated for a fungal infection in the genital area (likely tinea cruris or candidal infection):
• The skin barrier is inflamed and fragile
• Friction during intercourse can worsen irritation
• There is risk of transmitting fungal infection to your partner
So ideally:
➡️ Avoid sexual activity until treatment is completed and skin is fully healed (usually 2–4 weeks depending on severity).
Regarding condoms:
• If latex causes irritation, you may have latex sensitivity
• Do NOT apply oil over latex condoms
❌ Oil (coconut oil, petroleum jelly, etc.) weakens latex and increases risk of breakage
❌ Can increase infection risk
Lubricated condoms are generally safe, but if latex itself irritates you, lubrication won’t solve the allergy issue.
Next Steps
✔ Complete full antifungal course (tablet + cream)
✔ Keep area dry and clean
✔ Avoid intercourse until redness, itching, and scaling fully resolve
If you must resume sexual activity:
• Use non-latex condoms (polyurethane or polyisoprene)
• Use water-based lubricant only
• Avoid oil-based products with latex
If irritation persists even with non-latex:
• Get evaluated for contact dermatitis
Health Tips
✔ Wear loose cotton underwear
✔ Dry the area completely after bathing
✔ Avoid tight clothing
✔ Do not stop antifungal early even if symptoms improve
✔ Treat partner if recurrent infections occur
Best practice is to allow full healing before resuming intercourse to prevent recurrence.
If you’d like, we can review the exact antifungal medication, duration, and severity of infection to ensure proper cure and prevent relapse. Booking an online consultation will help optimise your recovery and reduce recurrence risk.

Hello,
If you are currently under treatment for a fungal infection in the private area, it is generally better to avoid sexual activity until the infection completely settles. Friction and moisture can delay healing and may also pass the infection to your partner.
Using condoms is safer than unprotected intercourse, but irritation can happen if you are sensitive to latex.
What you can do:
• Prefer to avoid sex until treatment is completed.
• If needed, use a non-latex condom (like polyurethane).
• Use water-based lubricant only if required.
• Do not apply oil over condoms — oil can damage latex and cause breakage.
• Keep the area clean and dry.
Healthy tips:
• Wear loose cotton undergarments.
• Avoid sweating and tight clothing.
• Complete full antifungal treatment as prescribed.
If irritation continues or infection is not improving, a proper consultation can help adjust treatment and prevent recurrence.
During fungal treatment, better to avoid sex till infection clears to prevent irritation and spread.
If using condom, use water-based lubricant only. Do not apply oil on latex condom, it can damage it.

As a medical professional, I would advise you to not to have sexual activity in your given condition as I put your partner at risk of having fungal infection as well, irrespective of use of condom or any kind of lubricant or oil.
I would advise u to let your infection get treated properly first, because as u have stated that it gets irritated.
Next Steps
let the fungal infections subdue
Health Tips
here are some tips -
1. keep the place dry as possible, wet or moist groins are breeding ground for fungal infections.
2. keep your clothes separately from other family members to avoid cross infection
3. wear loose or airy clothes to avoid sweating over your groins.
Dear Patient,
If you are currently undergoing fungal infection treatment (tablet + cream) in the private area, it is generally better to avoid sexual activity until the infection is fully healed. Sexual contact can:
• Delay healing due to friction and moisture
• Spread infection to your partner
• Increase irritation and symptoms
Important:
Continue full course of antifungal treatment even if symptoms improve.
advice: Wait until itching, redness, and rash completely resolve before resuming sex.
If symptoms are recurring frequently, sugar testing (diabetes screening) may also be useful.
