Unable to lose fat
Hello, I was a slim person till the age of 15-16. After that i started gaining weight. By the time college ended, I weighed 78 kg. After that i started eating little. According to the calorie counter, i would eat somewhere around 1k every day. I used to walk somewhere between 10-15k. I lost 26 kg in less than a year. I was now around 53-54 kg. With fat I also lost a lot of muscles. My arms looked like that of an old person. Within a couple of years I started gaining weight again even with home food (which meant little oil, no junk, sugar only on occasions). Later, i moved to Bengaluru and started eating junk food. And all the weight came back. From 66 kg, i went to 86 kg (in 2.5 yrs). I have been trying to eat healthy (1500-1600 kcal) and walk (7-9k) since Jan and in two months, my weight has gone down by 1 kg only (85 kg). That too i am not sure because sometimes it increases up to 85.5 kg. Please help me I am really frustrated. I also need to get pregnant soon given my age.

Your history suggests weight regain after earlier rapid weight loss, likely with muscle loss and metabolic adaptation. In such cases, even a 1500–1600 kcal diet may not give expected results, especially if there is associated insulin resistance, thyroid dysfunction, PCOS, poor sleep, or stress. My advice would be: Do not do crash dieting again — it causes further muscle loss and rebound weight gain. Get evaluated for TSH, HbA1c/fasting sugar, lipid profile, and if periods are irregular, PCOS workup. Continue calorie control, but ensure high protein intake and add strength training along with walking, because walking alone may not be enough now. Since you are planning pregnancy, consult a Physician/Endocrinologist + Gynecologist together. Even 5–10% weight reduction can improve metabolic health and fertility. You are not alone in this, and this is a treatable, very common pattern. The right approach now is medical evaluation + sustainable fat loss + muscle preservation, not severe restriction
Next Steps
