Your throat is throwing a tantrum, and you reached straight for an antibiotic. Pretty classic. Most sore throats are viral, so azithromycin doesn’t magically fix them. Here’s the actually useful part: • Warm salt-water gargles 3–4 times a day. • Warm fluids, steam, and avoiding cold stuff. • Lozenges with benzocaine or amylmetacresol (Strepsils, etc.). • For pain: paracetamol 500–650 mg every 6–8 hours as needed. • If you want something stronger, ibuprofen 200–400 mg works better for throat inflammation .

Most of the sore throat causes are mostly viral and doesn't need any type of antibiotics (like Azithromycin) taking Azithromycin over the counter like this will always be harmful for yourself as it will increase the antibiotic resistance, which lead to future deep seated infection not responding to antibiotics Depending on the signs you have the course of action can be decided easily

It is never advisable to take antibiotics as OTC medicines. In your case, it is Azithromycin. Instead, you can go for Paracetamol 500 mg, which will help you get rid of almost all kinds of pain and inflammation.
