My dermatologist has prescribed me with Finax 1mg for controlling hairfall, hair thinning and receding hairline.
I have read about it's various side effects related to sexual health of the male.
Should I consume it orally or ask my dermat to give better substitutes ?
And what about Topical Finasteride?
Can I use topical instead of oral?

Topical finasteride is also a good option, talk to your dermatologist regarding this
Im off the opinion that topical fenasteride is a good and viable alternative but for those who have grade 1 / 2 androgenic alopecia ....
In your case as your dermatologist has already administered you oral fenasteride im off the assumption that your degree of alopecia must be grade 3/4 ...
The latest studies even though show that the sexual side effects are minimal but we cant negate them totally...
Your situation is at a risk vs benifit angle ... Its upto you to decide if you want a less potent but decent alternative in terms of topical fenasteride or keep on taking oral meds
If you switch to topical alternative i must recommend derma stamping of minimum of 1 mm on scalp 2 times a week
before applying fenasteride and minoxidil combination... It has proven to increase the circulation and drug absorption on your scalp
Hope this helps you to decide the further course of treatment

Dermatologist has advised for a particular reason. Its side effect on sexual health is negligible. Contact your dermatologist to discuss the substitutes if possible in case if you are facing big problems.
We're quite hesitant in prescribing oral finasteride in young men as the sexual side effects can be lost lasting even on stopping the drug. Topical finasteride has 5-34% amount of blood DHT reducing effect thereby a very acceptable alternative.
Next Steps
You should really discuss with your dermatologist about getting on with this medicine.
Finasteride 1 mg is commonly prescribed for androgenic alopecia (hair loss) and is generally well-tolerated. However, it’s natural to have concerns regarding potential side effects, especially those related to sexual health. While some studies suggest a low risk of side effects like decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, or reduced semen volume, these are relatively uncommon, especially at the 1 mg dose.
Topical Finasteride has been explored as an alternative, and although it might reduce the risk of systemic side effects, the long-term efficacy compared to the oral form is still being researched. You can discuss this option with your dermatologist, but oral Finasteride remains the more proven approach for now.
