Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease. The symptoms are also dependent on weather. It may be associated with other autoimmune diseases. To that extent it may affect longevity .  Rheumatoid arthritis is debilitating but it doesn't affect longevity.

As a physician I would say that Consult a Rheumatologist Regularly: Regular visits to a rheumatologist are critical for monitoring the disease and adjusting medication as needed. Disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs), biologics, or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may be prescribed to manage symptoms and prevent joint damage.

Rheumatoid arthritis, when well-managed like your mother’s, rarely impacts life expectancy significantly. With proper treatment, regular check-ups, and a healthy lifestyle, she can lead a fulfilling, long life. Modern medications greatly improve outcomes, so there’s every reason to remain hopeful for her living well beyond 65, enjoying good health and happiness.

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) can be well-managed with proper treatment and does not necessarily shorten life expectancy, especially when diagnosed early at age of 46 years and treated effectively, as seems to be the case for your mother. With modern treatments (like DMARDs or biologics), many people with RA live normal lifespans. If your mother is responding well to treatment and is pain-free, it indicates good disease control, which greatly reduces complications and improves prognosis.
Next Steps
If you experience any new symptoms, discomfort, or have concerns, feel free to reach out for consultation to ensure optimal management of your condition.
Health Tips
1. Regular Follow-ups 2. Medication Compliance by Encouraging her to take prescribed medications consistently. Stopping treatment without medical advice can lead to flare-ups and complications. 3. Healthy Lifestyle and Exercise: Low-impact activities like walking, swimming, or yoga to maintain joint flexibility and cardiovascular health.

Rheumatoid arthritis is like that annoying guest who shows up uninvited and refuses to leave. It’s a condition where your own immune system gets confused and starts attacking your joints, causing pain and stiffness. The bad news? It’s a lifelong deal—you can’t just kick it out. But the good news? You can manage it. With the right medicines, a bit of exercise, and some healthy habits, you can keep it under control. Think of it like managing a messy roommate—if you handle it smartly, life goes on just fine. The trick is to not ignore it and stay consistent with the treatment.

There is no cure for RA, but there are treatments that can help manage the symptoms and slow the progression of the disease. These treatments may include medications, physical therapy, and surgery. for your mother, it is important to see a doctor regularly to monitor your condition and adjust your treatment plan as needed. You should also work with a PHYSICAL THERAPIST to develop an exercise program that can help you maintain your strength and flexibility. There are also a number of SUPPORT GROUPS and organizations that can provide information and support to people with RA but that is to be followed in India in major cities corporate hospitals only.
Health Tips
Top Advice i can offer is to shift your treatments to Rheumatologist and not just a MD Medicine doctor. if you are, all the best. wish her a long life and best wishes to her caring son too.
