Protein rich diet or heavy food sometimes causes haemorrhoids due to indigestion and constipation. You need to increase fibre intake in your diet along with plenty of water intake. You can start warm sitz bath to relieve pain. We have expertise in treatment of anorectal diseases like piles and anal fissure. You can connect with us online through practo or our website

Hello , Based on your symptoms - highly consistent with THROMBOSED EXTERNAL HEMORRHOID. In simple terms, this means a small blood vessel at the anal opening (a “pile”) has developed a clot inside it. Because this area is very sensitive, the clot causes sudden, intense pain and a firm swelling that you can feel outside. This occurs when there is strain or pressure during bowel movements, which can occur after diet changes (like high-protein intake) leading to harder stools & difficulty in sitting.
Next Steps
Sitz Bath: Soak the affected area in warm water for 15–20 minutes, 3–4 times a day. This helps reduce pain and swelling. Stool Softening:Increase water intake and add fiber (fruits, vegetables, isabgol) to avoid straining. Avoid sudden excessive protein and spicy food intake. Pain Relief: You can take oral pain relief (like paracetamol/ibuprofen; if no allergy) and apply a topical cream(Lidocaine) for local relief or use pads containing witch hazel Activity Care: Avoid prolonged sitting, straining during bowel movements and heavy lifting. Red Flags (seek urgent care): 1.Increasing or unbearable pain 2.Fever 3.Difficulty passing urine or stool 4.Rapid increase in swelling
Health Tips
I’ll need a few additional details from your side for guiding you with precise treatment plan Please consider connecting for a consultation so we can review your symptoms, bowel habits, and dietary pattern in detail. For a comprehensive discussion on managing a high-protein diet without causing constipation, along with personalized treatment and follow-up, you can consult me directly through my profile.

High protein diet can trigger constipation in people because it requires lots of water to be digested. You can increase your fibre intake and your fluid intake like consuming 4 litres of water per day in order to help you in such situations.

The sudden onset of sharp, excruciating pain accompanied by a protruding, painful swelling near the anus—especially after a dietary change that often leads to harder stools—is highly suggestive of a Thrombosed External Hemorrhoid or a Prolapsed Internal Hemorrhoid. The lack of bleeding but 'huge' pain indicates that a small blood clot may have formed within the hemorrhoid (thrombosis), which creates significant pressure and discomfort, making sitting or standing nearly impossible
Next Steps
Sitz Bath: Soak the area in warm water for 15–20 minutes, 3 to 4 times a day. This helps relax the anal sphincter muscle and reduces swelling and pain. Fiber & Hydration: Immediately increase your intake of water and fiber (fruits, vegetables, Isabgol) to soften stools and prevent further straining. Topical Relief: You may use over-the-counter soothing creams containing lidocaine or witch hazel, but avoid any 'harsh' soaps in the area.

Hello, Based on your symptoms, this is likely a thrombosed external hemorrhoid (painful pile), which can occur suddenly due to straining or dietary changes. Since your pain is severe and swelling is significant, an in-person examination by a general surgeon is advised, as a minor procedure may be required for faster relief. If pain worsens, swelling increases, or fever develops, please seek urgent care.
Next Steps
I recommend: • Warm sitz bath (10–15 minutes, 3–4 times daily) • Topical ointment for pain relief (lignocaine-based) • Oral pain relief medication as needed • Stool softener (like lactulose) • High-fiber diet with adequate fluids
