Most likely cause of pain will be due to meniscal (cartilage) damage with early arthritis. Acupuncture is safe with her medical issues, but she will need to see an Orthopaedic Surgeon for long term management of pain
She can take but we should solve the actual problem why she is getting pain
It could be due to arthritis in old age
Better to take radiographs - asses the stage the problem and then giving treatment is the better choice
