Decision will depend on complaints :
No complaints / minimal complaints : yes . U can use Shelcal xt for long time . No need of tests .
Moderate to severe complaints : ( previous h/o osteoporosis, fractures with minimal trauma , bone pains) :
Better to get a dexa scan and find out severity of osteoporosis and decide treatment accordingly.
Severe osteoporosis cases might need medicines more than just calcium . Eg : teriparatide , Denosumab , etc..
