Hello. I have reviewed the details of your back pain and recurrent fever.
Lower back pain lasting for several months combined with fever is a symptom that must be investigated systematically. It is important to look beyond temporary pain relief to identify the source of the inflammation or infection.
To provide an accurate diagnosis, please follow these recommendations:
1. Preliminary Investigations
I suggest the following tests to screen for infection and inflammatory markers:
Blood Work: Complete Blood Count (CBC), ESR, and CRP.
Imaging: An X-ray of the Lumbo-Sacral (LS) spine (AP and Lateral views).
Urine Routine: To rule out a chronic urinary tract infection, which can frequently present as lower back discomfort.
2. Symptomatic History
Please monitor and share if you experience any of the following:
Pain that is significantly worse at night or causes morning stiffness.
Any recent unintentional weight loss or loss of appetite.
Burning sensation or increased frequency during urination.
3. Precautions
Blood Sugar: Since you mentioned "sugar" (diabetes), it is vital to keep your glucose levels under strict control, as poorly managed diabetes increases the risk of bone and soft tissue infections.
Medication: Avoid over-reliance on Ibuprofen or Crocin (Paracetamol), as frequent use can mask the progression of the underlying issue and affect kidney/liver health.
Red Flags: Please seek immediate emergency care if you experience any sudden weakness in your legs, numbness in the groin area, or difficulty controlling your bowel or bladder movements.
Next Steps:
Kindly share the reports of the tests mentioned above. Once these results are available, we can establish a targeted treatment plan to address both the pain and the fever.
