Liver related
Hello, My cousin has diagnosed with grade 2 fatty liver through ultrasound scan but his doctor didn't suggest for fibroscan but he did fibroscan as he got it done through free medical checkup program. And it gave a value of 11kPa so why didn't the doctor suggest for fibroscan and prescribed only ultrasound scan? Is it treatable. ?? He doesn't drink too much occasion wise but is overweight like 98kg with 6 feet..?

First part of your question is not clear. Sonography was done. It showed Gd 2 Fatty liver. Is Fibroscsn mandatory after each sonography which shows fatty liver? Is sonography of liver a screening test when the final diagnosis will come from Fibroscan ? So many cases can be managed by Ultrasound scan of the liver. The greatest example is your own cousin. He had a Fibroscsn which gave a report well within normal limits. Both tests have their place in diagnosis of liver disease. So Fibroscsn need not be done in every case.
