Insomnia trouble sleeping

I have trouble sleeping from 3/4 night not getting sleep night and day too ! I m in portugal n here dr. Prescribe me dormidina 12.5 mg .. but I don't take it coz the fear of its addiction can I take this for curing my problm .. n how long further what should I do thnks
