Hi ,
I have anxiety and sleeping issues because of my cystitis issues.
Can't concentrate on my daily life and also have anxiety issues.
Am also trying for pregnancy.
Taking quitipin half dose at night from past 1month but want to know if Doxepin is more safe or not?
Can anyone prescribe me doxepin tablet??

Hi, I understand this is quite distressing—especially when you’re dealing with both physical discomfort (cystitis) and planning for pregnancy.
Your situation needs a careful and safe approach, so a few important points:
1)Doxepin vs Quetiapine (Quitipin):
Neither medication is first-line when you are trying to conceive. Doxepin (a TCA) can have more side effects, and safety in pregnancy is not clearly superior to quetiapine.
2)Very important:
Both these medicines should NOT be started, stopped, or changed without a psychiatrist’s guidance, especially in your case.
Root cause matters:
3)Your anxiety and sleep issues seem secondary to cystitis. Unless the bladder symptoms are controlled, sleep will remain disturbed. A parallel consultation with a physician/urologist is essential.
4)Planning pregnancy:
We usually prefer minimal and safest medications, sometimes even tapering unnecessary ones before conception.
Next Steps
Please take a proper psychiatric consultation (online or in-person) where your full history, current dose, and pregnancy plans can be reviewed.
We can then design a safe, stepwise plan rather than switching medicines blindly.
If you’d like, I can guide you on a pregnancy-safe anxiety & sleep management plan in detail.
Health Tips
Safer approach for now:
Non-medication strategies (sleep routine, relaxation breathing, limiting fluids before bed)
Short-term, pregnancy-safe options can be considered only after evaluation
Different people respond to different medications depending on the symptoms and individual response. Doxepin might increase urinary stasis and worsen your cystitis. Consult a psychiatrist and get the best one which works for you. Good luck.
It’s important to know and identify and recognise the reasons behind the anxiety and sleep issues which is also having an impact on the level of concentration and thereby confidence. Only then through a structured prognosis will one be able to lay down the correct approach and plan of action . Studying the mind and what causes the eventual emotions and behaviors can be helpful in determining the specific challenge and the desired outcomes
Anxiety and sleeping issues can not be directly due to cystitis. Cystitis, anxiety and insomnia all are treatable illness and you don't just have to take some symptomatic management like you are asking for. All three worsen because of stress and consequently they make conception and pregnancy difficult. Get proper evaluation and individualised treatment. Symptoms that you are mentioning & your age ,plan for pregnancy, you should not take medications that you have mentioned
There are certain other options that must be started after detailed evaluation of anxiety, mood symptoms, ongoing stressors* keeping in mind medication that is safe & continued during pregnancy too

It’s understandable that these symptoms are affecting your sleep and anxiety, and they can often be interconnected.
Regarding quetiapine and doxepin, both medications have different effects and safety considerations, especially when you are planning pregnancy. It’s important not to start or switch medications on your own, as what is “safer” can vary from person to person.
I would suggest consulting a psychiatrist for a proper assessment so that the most suitable and safe treatment option can be planned for you.
I understand your concern, especially since you’re trying to conceive.
Both Quetiapine and Doxepin can help with sleep and anxiety, but I wouldn’t advise switching or starting anything on your own without a doctor’s supervision, particularly in this phase. Quetiapine is relatively better studied in pregnancy, whereas Doxepin can have more side effects like daytime drowsiness and anticholinergic effects, and isn’t usually a first choice just for sleep.
Since your symptoms seem to be linked to cystitis, getting that treated properly will also help your anxiety and sleep.
It would be best to follow up with your psychiatrist to discuss safer options if needed. Please avoid self-medication or taking prescriptions without proper consultation.
