I want to know the dosage for thyroid
Hello Doctor, I recently did my blood tests and wanted guidance regarding my thyroid medication dosage. I am already taking Thyronorm 100 mcg daily as i have thyroid since 2016(detected in first pregnancy). I am also experiencing significant hair fall. My latest reports (24 March 2026): - TSH: 4.49 µIU/mL - Total T3: 1.29 ng/mL - Total T4: 8.02 µg/dL - Prolactin: 16.40 ng/mL Other relevant findings: - Hemoglobin: 10.5 g/dL - Thalassemia minor (known) - Vitamin B12: 368.4 pg/mL - Vitamin D: 22.45 ng/mL Could you please advise: 1. Is 100 mcg Thyronorm the correct dose for me? 2. Should the dose be increased or decreased? 3. Could my hair fall be related to thyroid levels? 5. Could anemia, low vitamin D, or B12 be contributing to hair fall? Thank you.

Thanks for sending across your query. The thyronorm tablet is being used to regulate TSH levels - as per your parameters that TSH levels are fine but in a long course or mismanagement- some of the hyperthyroidism symptoms may appear. To control them you have to control the thyroid levels with that every symptoms requres a particular treatment seperately. So it is better to consult as soon as possible

You just have mild hypothyroidism,  continue same dose and repeat test  after 3 months. There is mild vit d deficiency and mild anemia. Just take tab uprise 60,000 units once weekly for 4 weeks, Tab folic acid 5mg once every day for 2 weeks. Take more of fresh green leafy vegetables,  fruits, milk without cream, curd, cheese, nuts, soya, mushrooms,  fortified cereals. Spend an hour in early morning sun.

Your dose seems fine ,correction depends how much was your TSH previously? Yes all the reasons you mentioned contribute to hairfall also associated with other symptoms such as fatigue. You should start supplements and also lifestyle changes.

Your thyroid dose might need to be increased  a little  but after consulting a physician under their supervision  with monitor thyroid function  every 6 months And yes hair fall and hair thinning might be due to thyroid issue and also being anemic will contribute  to it .

1. Yes your TSH level slightly on the higher side, T3/T4 normal, so your Thyronorm dose can be slightly increased from 100-112mcg ( but only after a physician’s supervision) 2. Dose should be slightly increased followed by repeat TSH test after 6-8 weeks 3.Yes, hypothyroidism can cause hairfall, hair thinning. 4.Yes All can be contributing to hair fall. As you are known thalassemia minor with decreased Vitamin D and borderline Vitamin B12, you can take following medications: Tab Autrin 1 tab ODPC x 3 months Cap Uprise D3( 60k) 1 cap once/week x 6-8 weeks Tab Neurobion forte 1 tab ODPC x 2 months And Ensure adequate protein intake with healthy lifestyle.

Last query  is correct. Hypothyroidism  is one of the cause of hair fall. Continue 100mcg.

Yes → your thyroid dose is slightly low → increase needed • Hair fall is NOT just thyroid → anemia + vitamin D are major contributors • Treat all together → results in 2–3 months

In hypothyroidism,  even if you are taking right doses , you will experience one symptom or the other.  In my opinion  , there's no need to changes doses of thyronorm.  But you have to correct your Hb ( you are thal minor positive) by way of diet and medicines,  correct your Vit D levels by supplements and sunlight . Take iron rich foods , B12 rich foods and sun exposure for 30 min between 11 am to 3 pm . Also your diet should have zinc , magnesium and selenium containing foods which is required for thyroid hormone production . You can search for those foods online.
