A TSH of 5.3 µIU/mL suggests mild / subclinical Hypothyroidism.
Next Steps
• Check (if not already done): – Free T3, Free T4 – Anti-TPO antibodies • When to start medicine (Levothyroxine): – TSH persistently >5 with symptoms – Planning pregnancy / infertility – Anti-TPO positive • Typical starting dose (if needed): – Low dose (25–50 mcg daily), then adjust based on repeat TSH after 6–8 weeks
Health Tips
• Take thyroid medication (if started) on empty stomach, morning • Maintain healthy weight and diet • Avoid self-starting medication without follow-up • Repeat TSH after 6–8 weeks if borderline
