Hello. I have reviewed the symptoms your husband is experiencing. A fever of 101°F along with a sore throat and eye pain suggests his body is fighting an active infection. Here is a breakdown of what this could indicate and the recommended next steps. Possible Causes Viral Syndrome: Most commonly, the flu, COVID-19, or an adenovirus infection can cause this specific cluster of symptoms (fever, throat irritation, and eye discomfort). Dengue: If you are in an area where mosquitoes are common, dengue often causes "retro-orbital" pain (pain behind the eyes). Recommended Actions Hydration & Rest: Ensure he drinks plenty of fluids (water, ORS, or clear soups) and gets total bed rest. Fever Management: Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) is typically used to manage fever and body aches. Avoid Ibuprofen or Aspirin unless specifically advised by a doctor, especially if there is a risk of dengue, as these can increase bleeding risks. Sore Throat Relief: Warm salt-water gargles can help soothe the throat. Suggested Tests To get a definitive diagnosis, a doctor may recommend: Rapid Antigen Test: For COVID-19 and Influenza. Complete Blood Count (CBC): To check the white blood cell and platelet counts. Throat Swab: If the sore throat is severe, to rule out a bacterial infection like Strep. Please consult a physician for a physical examination, especially to check his throat and lung sounds.

Based on the symptoms you’ve described - fever (101°F), sore throat, weakness, headache and eye pain : this most commonly points towards a viral infection (like flu or viral fever). Eye pain with fever is quite typical in viral illnesses and sometimes seen in dengue as well, depending on the area and season. At this stage, if symptoms have just started, it is usually self-limiting and improves in 3–5 days with supportive care.
Next Steps
-Start Paracetamol 500–650 mg for fever (max 3–4 times/day) -Maintain good hydration (water, ORS, coconut water) -Take adequate rest -Warm saline gargles for sore throat -Monitor temperature regularly If fever persists beyond 2–3 days or symptoms worsen, then get basic tests and get consultation: °CBC (Complete Blood Count) °Dengue NS1/IgM (if high fever with body/eye pain) °Malaria test (if indicated)
Health Tips
-Avoid antibiotics at this stage unless advised after examination -Watch for warning signs: persistent high fever, severe headache, vomiting, rash, bleeding, or extreme weakness -If any of these appear, seek medical care promptly Overall, this looks like a viral illness for now, but keep a close watch over the next couple of days.

Fever with sore throat, weakness and eye pain is most commonly due to a viral infection. Give him rest, plenty of fluids, and paracetamol for fever. If fever persists beyond 3 days, or symptoms worsen, tests like CBC and viral markers may be needed. I can guide you properly based on his full history please book a consultation.
