Consult a psychologist who can help you to overcome this behavioral problem. Meanwhile avoid doing so consciously, when under stress or anxious. Try doing some small chores with hands, when urge to bite nails arises.

Hi, This is not a digestive problem and it is a common habit. It is most often a behavioural response to stress, anxiety, nervousness or sometimes even boredom.   1) Identity triggers-  notice when you bite nails and try to interrupt it. 2) Substitute habit- keep a stress ball, Chew sugar-free gum or keep your. hands busy keep your nails. trimmed
Next Steps
Practice deep breathing, meditation, regular exercise. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy can help.

Consider rewarding practices. Start with refraining from biting nails for half hour- one hour and prolong this time gradually. If you meet your goals, consider rewarding yourself with something you like. If nothing really works, consider psychological analysis and treatment.
