Fever and cough from a month

Hi, My friend is suffering from fever and cough from a month. He was diagnosed with viral fever and cough Was due to chest congestion after taking the chest X-ray. He was admitted in hospital for 5 days. Once he has returned back home. His cough was persistent and today (after 2 weeks of discharge), there was a high fever and severe cough. He was given high dosage antibiotics due to which he is hesitant to goto doctor again. He is on few home remedies like black pepper, honey, turmeric , hot water etc. Request you to suggest why the cough is still Persistant and from last 2 days it's suddenly increased . Thanks, Chaitra

Hi, Recurrent cough needs to be properly evaluated. He may also need antibiotics .. Few investigations which may be done are chest x-ray, complete blood count, sputum gram stain, AFB and culture. You should consult physician and follow the advice.
