From the medicines prescribed (Roxbel and Serenace), it seems your psychiatrist is treating symptoms of psychosis with depression or mood-related disturbances. However, only the treating psychiatrist can give you a confirmed diagnosis after proper evaluation. Hallucinations along with depression can occur in different conditions, so it's not possible to label it based on medicines alone.
Next Steps
You should discuss directly with your psychiatrist and request clarification of the diagnosis - this is your right as a patient. If you still feel unsure, you can seek a second opinion from another psychiatrist. Counselling support along with medicines can also help you manage distress better - you may consult with me for therapy guidance.
Health Tips
Continue medicines as prescribed, avoid stopping them suddenly, maintain a daily routine (sleep, meals, light physical activity), and note down your symptoms to share clearly during follow-ups. This will help your doctor adjust treatment more effectively.

Hi While I cannot give you a formal diagnosis, this combination often points toward conditions like psychotic depression or, in some cases, a type of schizoaffective or schizophrenia-related illness. Since you experienced this last year and then improved, it may also be a recurrent or episodic condition. Diagnosis depends on many factors duration, frequency, triggers, and detailed history which only your psychiatrist can confirm after evaluation. Please don’t stop your medicines without medical advice. Stay in close touch with your psychiatrist, share all your symptoms clearly, and also consider therapy alongside. Take therapy. Hi, Depression and hallucinations can be caused by various underlying conditions, including mood disorders, psychotic disorders, or other mental health issues. Since your psychiatrist has prescribed medication but hasn't provided a specific diagnosis, it’s important to follow up with her for a comprehensive assessment to understand the root cause of your symptoms. Hallucinations, especially if they recur, need careful evaluation to rule out underlying medical or psychiatric conditions. Make sure to communicate all your symptoms and concerns openly with your doctor, and if your symptoms worsen or you experience any thoughts of harm, seek immediate medical attention. Remember, mental health issues are treatable, and getting the right diagnosis and support can help you recover and feel better.

Hi, I understand your concern. The medicines prescribed to you are often used for managing hallucinations and mood symptoms, but only your psychiatrist can confirm the exact diagnosis after a full evaluation. Since you have had a similar episode earlier, it may be a recurring condition, and starting treatment early helps in controlling it. I would suggest discussing your diagnosis directly with your psychiatrist during your next visit and, if needed, you can also take a second opinion. Alongside medication, working with a psychologist for therapy can give you better coping strategies and support in recovery.

Hi.... In such cases, initial treatment is based on a prognosis, which is usually not shared to avoid confusion and fear. Gradually, when the medications are used over a period of time, the diagnosis comes into the picture. Combination of medications and their dosages may be adjusted based on how well they are working in a particular case, on a particular person. Please understand, each of our brain is unique and same medications may imapact different brains differently. So it takes some time to understand which combination and dosage of medications are working effectively in a particular case. It is best for you to keep taking your medications regularly and ask for a diagnosis at a later stage. If in case you are not satisfied, you can seek a second opinion from another Psychiatrist. I know some good Psychiatrist in Bangalore and I can share contact.
Next Steps
Consult a Psychiatrist for a Medical Diagnosis. Take your Medications regularly. Consult a Psychologist later when the medications are able to suppress the symptoms (hallucinations) atleast to some extent. CBT along with Psychoeducation and Psychoanalysis is required.
