Can we give nebuliser in pleural effusio
Hi my father-in -law just had a by pass surgery 10 days ago he is having mild pleural effusion, can we give nebulisation with vital steam inhalation drops??? Please suggest, normal that drops are used in steam inhalation but can we use in nebuliser kindly guide

Yes Nebulisation can be given, even in High grade pleural effusion. provided pt feels better & not breathless. Nebuliser will act on lungs & it will dilate bronchus. Effusion is outside lung parenchyma, covering the lungs. Nebulisation is not the ultimate treatment, but a symptomatic reliever. Effusion needs proper investigation to rule out infective etiology, Please investigate for the same. Thankyou Dr. Siddharth R. Ughade
